After months of no meetings, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, on September 16, 2020 The Woman’s Club of Colorado Springs held it’s Monthly General Meeting outside near the walking trail along Monument Creek. Besides enjoying the beautiful weather and catching up with one another, plans for a recycling challenge were revealed.

Our challenge is to collect 500 pounds of plastic sheeting in the six month period from January – June 2021 for composite manufacturer Trex. This includes items such as sandwich and other size baggies, dry cleaning bags, shopping bags, bubble wrap, plastic mailing envelopes and more.

As one of the largest recyclers of plastic in North America, Trex uses more than 1.5 billion plastic bags each year, keeping more than 18 million pounds of plastic from reaching our landfills. The plastic is used to make composite products, such as decking and railings, which offer an alternative to wood and an eco-friendly choice to consumers.
The Woman’s Club of Colorado Springs is proud to partner with Trex in an effort to keep plastic out of our landfills and protect our environment!
