In the Name of Fashion – a fun and entertaining afternoon

On Wednesday, October 25, 2017 THE WOMAN’S CLUB OF COLORADO SPRINGS held its annual Fundraiser Luncheon at Colorado College’s historic Bemis Hall. One hundred twelve members and guests enjoyed the In the Name of Fashion themed event.

In the Name of Fashion

After a gourmet lunch catered by Bon Appétit,

Babette (played by the award-winning actress, Birgitta De Pree, from the Millibo Art Theatre) had the audience laughing hysterically with a pantomime demonstrating what women do to get ready for the day.

Attendees also got a glimpse of what our foremothers did In the Name of Fashion as a WCCS model was dressed, layer by layer, in a costume graciously provided by GFWC Colorado State President-Elect, Theresa Rudder, from the GFWC Woman’s Citizenship Club. Dressing was a multi-person job as it was nearly impossible to bend or twist once the corset was on. This required putting shoes and stockings on first!

The annual WCCS Fundraiser Luncheon would not be complete without our amazing Opportunity Baskets. Several attendees were lucky enough to take one of the 23 baskets home!

Thank you to all the guests and members that made this event so successful.

ALL the proceeds from this event were donated to:

  • A Kidz Hope
  • Early Connections Learning Center
  • Empty Stocking Fund
  • Meadows Park Community Center
  • Partners in Housing
  • The Home Front Cares
  • and other community non-profits

We look forward to another fun and successful event next year!
